Green Wood Chairs
Alison Ospina of Green Wood Chairs has been teaching chair making courses for over 25 years. The courses are aimed at all levels of experience, from seasoned woodworkers to those who have never sawed, sanded or hammered before. Alison has written several books on the art and skill involved with chair making. From sheepskin footstools, rocking chairs with solid elm seats, to leather seated fireside chairs, Alison creates a wide range of furniture, including a diminutive chair for children. Courses can be one or three days duration, and lunch, refreshments and all materials are included. All chairs are made from eco friendly coppiced hazel cut from woodlands near Kealkil and Skibbereen in County Cork. Alison is happy to work to commission and often has a range of chairs, stools and small tables for sale from the Green Wood Chairs studio. The studio is not generally open to public except for courses, but visits are welcome if arranged in advance.

Schull Country Market (established in 2002) aims to meet the demand for local and specialised food and craft products. It has all the enthusiasm of a young market while trading under ancient regulations stipulating that most products are produced ‘on the kitchen table’. Michael O’Sullivan Photography
Michael is the former chairman and founder of the Cork International Salon of Photography. He is a former president of the Irish Photographic Federation and is an experienced photographer in both the amateur and professional arenas, having had his work published both nationally and internationally. He produces landscape, fashion, commercial and portrait work, but is best known for his personal work, which may be described as “conceptual fantasy art”. His work references the painters of the Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic eras, as well as the great fantasy artists of the 20th century while retaining a unique signature. He is a Fellow of the Irish Photographic Federation, and a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society. Michael is also a member of the adjudication panel for photographic distinctions with the Irish Photographic Federation. Michael leads workshops for photographers at all levels, including master classes for advanced photographers and professionals. His workshops include direction on composition, shooting, lighting, processing and printing for various photographic genres. He is also a lecturer, photography trainer and workshop leader for Canon Ireland.

Smith travels around Ireland on his motor bike glimpsing the stories of individuals along the way; visiting horse fairs in Kenmare, fishing villages in Ardmore, documenting busy street scenes in Dublin, lighthouses in County Clare and musicians performing at the fleadh cheoil in Ennis. Danny finds inspiration from the people and places he finds along the way. Working quickly he creates scenes, portraits and landscapes with his own unique style, use of colour and brush work. Driven by passion and a talent for observation he attempts to capture the magic of the people he meets and their lives.
