Winsome Planet should be usable by everyone who wants to get outdoors in Ireland. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

Where we are

The site is partially conformant: some content does not yet fully meet level AA. It has not been independently audited; this statement is our own assessment, made in October 2026.

What we have done

  • A “Skip to main content” link on every page, for keyboard and screen-reader users.
  • Exactly one main heading on each page — checked across every page in our sitemap in October 2026.
  • The county map on Explore Ireland is repeated as a plain list of all 26 counties on the same page.
  • Animation on the menus and county explorer is reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Choosing “Only essential” cookies is a single click, and the site works the same either way.

Known limitations

  • Images from open data. Some photographs come from public datasets with little or no description, so their alternative text may only name the place.
  • AI-generated itineraries are produced as you wait; their layout has not been tested with every screen reader.
  • Older journal posts, migrated from our previous website, may have images without meaningful alternative text.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on the site does not work for you, please tell us — it is the fastest way for us to find and fix it. Use the contact form (choose “Report an Issue”) or email contact@winsomeplanet.com. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and the assistive technology you use, if any. We aim to reply within 48 hours, as we do for every message, and if we cannot fix the problem quickly we will try to get you the information another way.
