Set it up
The connector is free, needs no account and only reads public data.
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector, name it Winsome Planet and paste this URL:
https://winsomeplanet.com/api/mcp - Leave authentication on No sign-in and select Add.
- In a chat, open the tools menu and make sure Winsome Planet is switched on. The first time, you can say “use Winsome Planet” in your question.
It works on Claude for the web, desktop and mobile on any plan that supports connectors. Any other MCP client that speaks Streamable HTTP can use the same URL.

Interactive views
In Claude, results appear as an interactive view under the answer: a map of Ireland with each place marked, a row of place cards you can filter by kind, the EPA swim verdict for beaches, the best day outdoors, and a forecast map you can switch day by day. “Ask about this” on a card, or a county on the forecast map, asks Claude about it in the chat. Open the view full screen for every result, full details and the five-day forecast. It follows Claude’s light or dark theme. Clients without interactive views get the same results as text.
Where the data comes from
Coverage is the Republic of Ireland’s 26 counties: about 1,190 trails, 240 EPA-monitored bathing waters, 155 Coillte forests, National Monuments and UNESCO sites, and Fáilte Ireland parks, gardens, islands and beaches. Every answer credits its sources:

Bathing-water status comes from the EPA data on record and says what the EPA found and when; it never describes a beach as “safe”. The EPA updates beaches.ie hourly, and the signs on the beach take precedence. Forecasts and warnings come from Met Éireann and are refreshed hourly. Full credits are on Open data & licences.
Privacy
The connector needs no account and asks for no personal data. It receives only what Claude sends to a tool, such as a county name or a search word, and we do not store those inputs or the results. Claude, not Winsome Planet, handles your conversation. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
