The Chimera Gallery
The Chimera Gallery is the brain child of David O'Shea, David along with his friend, artist, Hazel Revington Cross opened their first Gallery in 2010 (The Garden Gallery) for four years they traded and learned the art business from the ground up. In 2014 it was decided that Dave would leave the partnership and move into a provincial town, he looked at premises in Trim , Navan and Mullingar. In the end Mullingar was the choice, a town with a vibrancy and a love for arts, it was also a major town in the midlands without an art gallery of note. The Garden Gallery was no more but in its place 'the Purple Raven' emerged. The Chimera Gallery is very proud to represent some of Ireland's great talents, with Conor Walton, Geraldine O'Reilly, Sean Cooter, Michael Wann, Cormac O'Leary, Philip Lindey, Alison Lowry, Dave West, Michelle Boyle to name a few. Young artists making a name for themselves are also part of the Gallery make up, with Dave McDermott, Kate Beagan and Laurence O'Toole names to note. Internationally the gallery represents, Montana Master artist Mike Hamblin, Germany's Paul Huf, American Photographer Doug Ross and controversial geo political painter, Khara Oxier, from Idaho.

OE Bikes, formally Outdoor Escape, in Mullingar is a bike shop with affordable and high quality products for all your cycling needs. OE Bikes stock well known brands in bikes and accessories ensuring a proper warranty and support service. OE Bikes are based near the Old Rail Trail Greenway that provides a fun cycle all the way to Athlone Town. You can also cycle along the Royal Canal Way which connects Mullingar to amazing local stops such as Ballynacarrigy and Abbeyshrule. If you plan on exploring a little bit further, you can take the train to Longford Town which is only two stops away from Mullingar and cycle back.
Mullingar Pewter
Visit Mullingar Pewter in County Westmeath, where they craft the finest pewter gifts using traditional methods, and experience the pewter gallery, gift store and wonderful café. The ancient craft of pewter making was revived in Ireland by Paddy Collins in Mullingar in 1974. Stroll around the pewter factory on a self guided workshop tour, experiencing up close the art of pewter production. If visiting, contact Mullingar Pewter in advance to ensure that access to the facility for the tour is available. Visit the workshop to watch as skilled craftsmen pour the pewter, mould the designs and turn the cups and plates using the skills of older times. See the old casting methods, meticulous assembly and delicate hand finishing. The gift shop has a visitor information centre and carries an extensive range of Mullingar Pewter products and gifts including chess, draughts and checkers sets, pocket watches, drinkware, cutlery, compasses, jewellery boxes and picture frames.
Weir's Bar & Restaurant
Weir's Bar & Restaurant is famous for its bar and food, served in a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere. Their food is home made on the premises, from soups and sauces to delicious desserts. They use local, organic produce when available and a team of international chefs have built up quite a reputation for Weir's. A team of skilled and qualified chefs can cater to your every need, whether it is a special party meal or buffet style evening we will select and prepare the style of food you require. They can also supply your food for a barbecue at your home, or for various styles of outside catering events as well as doing selected dishes from their menus as take-away meals. They pride themselves on the quality of their meats, using Irish Aberdeen Angus for our Sirloin Steaks and Irish Hereford for our fillet. They also have available speciality coffees and a full range of liqueurs. Weirs premises are wheelchair friendly and if you have a special need, they will try their best to cater for you. Weirs don’t open the restaurant on Monday or Tuesday , the bar opens at 6pm.Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday to Saturday we open 12.30 to 8.30 pm. Sunday lunch is served from 12.30pm to 3.30pm and a la carte menu until 6pm on Sunday. Bank Holiday Monday lunch is from 12.30pm to 6pm. Local attractions include the Franciscan Friary within the village, a beautiful church and gardens with outdoor statues of the Stations of the Cross originally built in 1827 and Lough Derravaragh lies to the east of the village which is the setting for one of the most famous and endearing Irish folklore stories ever-the Children of Lir.

O’Meara’s Garden Pavilion is a five star garden centre on a 12 acre site in Ireland's Hidden Heartlands. It was designed and built with customer convenience and comfort in every department. An extensive homewares shop leads you to a spacious covered area, for sheltered shopping whatever the weather. O’Meara’s Garden Pavilion is known for quality and value. You can treat yourself to afternoon tea in the Baker’s Garden tearooms or bring away a pot of homemade juicy jam. Children can be easily entertained in the covered play area. Christmas is a special time at O’Meara's when the centre is transformed into a winter wonderland. Car parking is available for over 200 cars and coaches. Parking for the disabled, toilet and wheelchair facilities are all provided. Coach tours are catered for.
Shannon Academy of English
Shannon Academy of English offers English language courses to the highest professional standards at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels across a variety of groups. Adults, young adults, and children are all catered for at the Shannon Academy. Classes are small, with a maximum of 15 students per class, and all teachers hold the internationally and well-recognised TEFL qualification.
Tullynally Castle & Gardens
The beautiful parkland of Tullynally Castle & Gardens is surrounded by the hills and lakes of north County Westmeath. This haven for history buffs and nature lovers alike has been the home of the Pakenham family, later Earls of Longford, for over 370 years. The original fortified house was extended to a magnificent Gothic revival castle in the 1800’s and is now one of the largest houses in Ireland to survive in the private ownership of the same family. Castle tours include the great hall, library, dining room and drawing room. The tour continues into the early Victorian kitchens and laundries which give fascinating insights into how life was below stairs for service staff. The beautifully restored gardens, dating from the late 18th century, include terraced lawns, walled flower gardens, romantic woodland walks and two ornamental lakes. These have been enhanced by the current owners with pretty summerhouses and follies, each framing a different view. Many of the wealth of unusual trees and shrubs have been grown from seed collected on Himalayan plant hunting expeditions by Thomas Pakenham. Entry to Tullynally Castle Gardens is included in the Castle tour, but garden tickets are also available separately. There is a special discovery trail for children and the Courtyard Tearooms serve freshly made lunches and teas, and includes an outdoor seating area.
Kilbeggan Racecourse
With the distinction of being the only racecourse in Ireland where horse racing is over jumps under national hunt rules and with a recent €2.5 million upgrade, Kilbeggan Racecourse in County Westmeath is staking its claim as one of the best loved courses in the country. See this peaceful town spring to life on race evenings as crowds gather in eager anticipation of the excitement, fun and thrill of the race. The racecourse is perfectly designed to ensure that you can get up close to the action or observe in comfort from the Pavilion Bar, or, should the mood take you, head along to the tented bar with live music on the hill overlooking the racecourse. Barracuda Boat Trips will provide you with a boat trip to remember during your next trip to Westmeath. Trip pick up points are at Hodson Bay, The Radisson Hotel, Sean's Bar, Wineport, Glasson Golf Club, Manfred's, Athlone Golf Club, and the Strand. Moate Golf Club
Moate Golf Club is noted far and wide for its hospitality and the friendliness of its members. The clubhouse, built in 1997, provides all the facilities that the golfer of today requires and is well worth a visit. Founded in 1900, Moate Golf Club moved to its present site in 1940 as a 9-hole course. In 1993, it was extended to 18 holes. It is set in gently rolling parkland and presents a variety of challenges to both beginners and experienced golfers.

Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park
Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park is a cultural and recreational site whose name means ‘fort of the fairies’. Visitors can explore the heritage trail, the vintage museum, and reconstructed historical sites such as a hedge school, forge, dolmen, ring fort and stone circle. The park also has walking trails, a pet farm, fairy island, woodland, playgrounds, sculptures, a turlough lake and tea rooms. At the Comhaltas Teach Cheoil, the Scéal exhibition and classes celebrate Irish culture through traditional music, dance, singing and the Irish language. The Genealogy Centre helps visitors trace their County Westmeath roots. The park is a non profit organisation open to visitors of all ages.
Ken's Oriental Restaurant
At Ken's Oriental Restaurant, the chefs create traditional Chinese, Asian and Thai cuisine, choosing the freshest ingredients for colour, aroma, flavour and taste. The belief at Ken's Oriental is that food is not only to taste but is also a work of art for its aesthetic value. Ken's Oriental Restaurant has a seating capacity of 60, and can cater for private functions and parties.
Killinure Point
Quigley's Marina at Killinure Point on the River Shannon is surrounded on three sides by water. It is in the townland of Glassan (or Glasson) and is the south western peninsula of the larger area of Killinure. The Point is on the mouth of the inner lakes, namely Killinure Lough, Coosan Lough, and Ballykeeran Lough. The marina has 100 berthing spaces to offer and can accommodate boats up to 45ft. All berthing spaces have water and power supply. Diesel, gas, and a pump-out station are also available, as well as two modern travel hoists and winter storage (hardstand). The marina is secured with a key card operated barrier and a CCTV system.
The Tearoom at Tullynally Castle Gardens
This romantic Gothic Revival Castle has been the family home of the Pakenhams for 370 years. Visitors to the Castle can enjoy a whole range of historical insights with a Life Below Stairs tour of the Victorian Kitchens, Scullery and Laundries (including the biggest mangle you have ever seen!) Tours of the grand main rooms include the magnificent Great Hall, the Library with its hidden door, and the Drawing and Dining rooms. Once outdoors explore expansive parklands that stretch across ornamental lakes and waterfalls, pleasure grounds, walled kitchen gardens, herbaceous borders and an exotic Himalayan plant collection created following Thomas’s travels.
