Can I swim here? Outside the bathing season
The bathing season runs from 1 June to 15 September. Outside it the water is not tested weekly and lifeguards are not on duty. The last sample, on 14 September 2026, was excellent. Live status on beaches.ie, which the EPA updates hourly in season.
Seapoint beach is a gently sloping sandy beach with areas of rocks along the coastline. There is an exclusion zone for motorized craft for 300 metres from the foreshore and this is marked by lighted buoys. Swimmers should be aware that there may be sudden large waves caused by the car ferries and that there is no diving allowed from the platforms. Fishing is not permitted within the bathing area. The beach is located within a National Heritage Area, Special Area of Conversation and a Special Protection Area. Activities include sailing, kayaking and swimming.
Excellent (2025): The highest standard: results over four years were consistently very clean.
