Can I swim here? Outside the bathing season
The bathing season runs from 1 June to 15 September. Outside it the water is not tested weekly and lifeguards are not on duty. The last sample, on 7 September 2026, was excellent. Live status on beaches.ie, which the EPA updates hourly in season.
Keeldra Lake could be classified as muddy, with a semi-natural riparian zone. This bathing area is approximately 2,000 m2 and the principal swimming zone is expected on the shore side of this man-made pier.
Excellent (2025): The highest standard: results over four years were consistently very clean.

| Wheelchair access | Yes | There is a gentle sloping concrete slipway for users to access to the lake shore. There are no disability accessible points to the lake for bathing. There are a number of steps to navigate to gain entry to the bathing water. A hand rail is in place for support when using the steps for access. |
